The terms gathered originate from the plethora of relevant sources: high valuated library texts, dictionaries and lexicons, bibliographic standards as well as recently adopted terminology standards.

The criteria for inclusion of any term was that there was a reasonable supposal that library and information professional may be expected to encounter it in practice, or that he/she will be required to know, or recognize, its meaning in the course of executing his/ her responsibilities as a librarian/information professional.

The list contains acronyms frequently used in library environment. Acronyms name organisations and associations, institutions and networks, projects and initiatives, programs and software packages, bibliography standards and guidelines, phrases and technical terms. The abbreviated and full forms are given in their original language. For frequently used acronymes the accepted forms in Serbian or translations are given as well.

Along the compilation of the Dictionary a great number of conventional and electronic resources has been consulted. The following list includes a selection of the most important printed as well as online accessible sources. The full list of sources will be available in the future printed edition of this dictionary.
